THE leather and textile products from the State could generate exports to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore and provide jobs to 15 lakh people by 2010, according to Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, caretaker Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a meeting after laying foundation stone for the Nayudamma International Leather Export Park (Nilex) near Gachibowli, he said the State had identified the leather sector as one of the growth engines in its Vision 2020 document.

The Nilex, which will come up on a 37-acre site, would cater to the needs of entrepreneurs for manufacture of all types of leather products. The complex would be promoted with public-private partnership.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the common facility centre on the site.
