Announcements Cummins India to make engines for group cos Our Bureau
Pune , Feb. 13 CUMMINS India said here today the company has been made the exclusive manufacturer of its 50-litre power generation for the group's global requirements. Exports of the product will commence from the next quarter, Mr Vinod Dasari, Joint Managing Director, said, adding that the 50-litre engine, along with the 38 litre which it is already supplying exclusively, will add Rs 140 crore to the company's export revenues. Cummins India , which is in the midst of a transition phase just now with Chairman Mr Ravi Venkatesan quitting to join as Microsoft's India head, will continue with its growth strategy which is now well in place, according to Mr Venkatesan, who said an announcement regarding a new Chairman for the group's Indian operations would be made in the next 3-4 weeks. Mr Venkatesan said that the new man in the seat would in all probability be from within Cummins or one of its global businesses. "It is unlikely that the new Chairman will be from outside the group," he said. The company is meanwhile focused on continuing its growth in India and is right now working on engines which will use gas as feed stock in power generation, Mr Anant Talaulicar, Joint Managing Director, said adding that this, in addition to developing solutions in the CNG space would be most exciting projects for the company in the next few years.. Meanwhile, Cummins Auto Services Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Cummins Diesel Sales & Services, which spearheaded the group's foray into the auto parts and services business, is all set to break even by the end of the year, Mr Dasari said.
