Industry & Economy - Anti-dumping

Dumping duty imposed on Korean EPDM

K.R. Srivats

New Delhi , Feb. 11

THE Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on all imports of Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM) from South Korea. The definitive anti-dumping duty would be in effect till May 18, 2005, a revenue department official said.

EPDM is used in automotive applications such as profiles, radiators, hoses and seals; in building and construction as profiles, roofing foils and seals; in cable as cable insulation and also in moulded articles.

The Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry had, after a review of its earlier recommendations in December last year, recommended the continuation of definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of EPDM from South Korea.

Herdillia Unimers Ltd (HUL), Mumbai, the sole domestic producer of EPDM, filed a petition seeking imposition of anti-dumping duty on EPDM imports from South Korea.
