Our Bureau

Mumbai , Feb 10

TWO new grant agreements were signed today by the Union Government towards unlocking funds from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The agreements pave the way for the disbursal of $33 million (about Rs 149 crore) over the next two years and totalling $129 million (about Rs 583 crore) over the next five years, a fund release said.

These new grants would help the country expand the national HIV/AIDS prevention and control programme as well as the national TB control programme, the note added. Total commitment from the Global Fund to India now amounts to $153 million (about Rs 692 crore) over five years.
