New Products & Services Miracle Food to supply coconut water on trains Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Feb. 9 SOUTHERN Railway has authorised the Kerala-based Miracle Food Processors International Ltd to supply tender coconut water of different flavours to its on-train catering units. Accordingly, Miracle has already started supplying to major trains such as Jayanthi Janata, Mangala and Jan Shatabdi, according to the Managing Director, Mr P.P. Ahamed Kutty. The supplies will be extended to cover more trains by the next week, he told newspersons. Miracle has also announced the launch of a new product called Elaneer Jam, with a tender coconut base. The product will be available in four different flavours. Two more combinations will be introduced in the market soon. The company is strengthening its marketing network by appointing new stockists in the southern parts of Kerala. The Mysore-based Central Food Technological Research Institute has issued a quality certificate for Miracle products, while SGS India has cleared the branded products of any toxic content or pollutants. During the current year, Miracle intends to set up two more bottling units, one each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. The company also tied up with the New Delhi-based Kejriwal Enterprises, which will take care of the marketing aspect in the whole of north India as well as demand from corporate houses and various airlines. The demand in New Delhi has been estimated at two lakh bottles per day. The Perinthalmanna-based company is credited with being the first to deploy unique spray evaporation and reverse osmosis technologies for manufacturing coconut water concentrate. The company has filed for an India patent for the technology and intends to file patent papers in other countries as well, Mr Kutty told Business Line. Miracle has a technology partner in Winter Umwelttechnik of Germany, which holds 26 per cent stake in the joint venture. Miracle proposes to scale up production and touch 100 per cent utilisation of its installed capacity. "Currently, we are processing 50,000 tender coconuts on a daily basis and this will touch 1.5 lakh by the time we hit peak capacity." Growing demand from within the country has prompted the company to chart out a three-year plan for installing 3,000 customised tender water coconut water-vending machines. Miracle also supplies Rs 6 lakh worth of coconut water concentrate to Saudi Arabia on a monthly basis. Other countries in West Asia have also evinced interest in the products and negotiations are on.
