Escotel `overtakes' BSNL in Kerala

KOCHI: Escotel Mobile Communications Limited (Escotel) has claimed that it had overtaken BSNL to regain the number one position in Kerala in terms of cellular numbers after trailing behind the latter for the last eight months.

Making this announcement, Mr Ramakrishna, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kerala, said, "At Escotel, we are constantly working at innovative ways to expand our markets and changing the market perception of cellular telephony by highlighting the benefits to our customers, lowering the entry an usage cost of cellular, increasing utility of mobiles through launching innovative and useful services."

New products such as, youth card and students card, have penetrated new customer segments, he said. "The markets had responded very enthusiastically to our efforts and we have seen an addition of more than a lakh customers in the last six months," he added.
