MMTC declares 25 pc interim

MMTC Ltd today declared 25 per cent interim dividend for the current fiscal and said that it is confident of exceeding the annual turnover target of Rs 7,500 crore for 2003-04.

According to a company release, the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr S.D. Kapoor presented the interim dividend cheque of Rs 12.41 crore to the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr Arun Jaitley.

MMTC earned a net profit of Rs 32.13 crore in the first nine months of the current fiscal, 78 per cent higher than the figure of the corresponding previous period.

During the same period, earning per share rose by 78 per cent, productivity by 22 per cent and expenditure by 11 per cent.

The company has logged a total turnover of Rs 6,621 crore, exceeding the proportionate budgeted targets.

With this, MMTC has already exceeded the total turnover of last year and has registered 25 per cent growth over the corresponding previous period.

This includes exports valued at Rs 1,490 crore, imports at Rs 4,688 crore and domestic business of Rs 443 crore.

In import and domestic business, the company has already exceeded respective annual targets for 2003-04.
