New Delhi , Feb. 4

TO widen its consumer base, Bose Corporation India Private Ltd proposes to focus on expanding its retail presence in the country.

"The company has undertaken a lot of initiatives in the last one year. Some of the key initiatives include increasing retail presence, introduction of entry level products and launching a Bose connect programme," Mr Ratish Pandey, General Manager, Bose Corporation India, said.

The retail business contributes almost 60 per cent to the company's total turnover, he said. Currently, the company has four retail stores. The company's operations in the country are divided into professional systems division and the home audio segment. The professional systems division, which provides complete turnkey audio-video solutions for public space such as hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets, contributes 40 per cent to the company's turnover.

The home audio division provides home audio solutions through retail outlets. Speaking at the launch of 3.2.1 GS, an enhanced DVD-based entry level home entertainment system, he said, "The new GS system advances the legacy of the first 3.2.1 system further by providing compelling performance benefits of a five speaker surround sound system from two visible speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module."

The product is priced at Rs 89,900 plus taxes. Commenting on the demand for such products, Mr Pandey said, "The popularity of our 3.2.1 system launched last year proved that there is growing segment of customers looking for such home theatre systems."

Sharing the projections for 2004, he said, "The company has been experiencing an aggressive growth of 60 per cent year-on-year. We hope to experience similar growth in 2004."
