HYDERABAD: Two e-governance initiatives of the State Government that seek to bridge the digital divide are the only initiatives from India short-listed for the Stockholm Challenge Award 2004, according to a Government communication.

The award recognises projects in the field of information technology. There were 133 entries for the award in e-governance category, out of which 25 entries have been short-listed for finals. Out of the 25, only two have got place in the finals. The rural eSeva pilot project of West Godavari and Municipal Electronic Governance Authority (MEGA) that handles fruit information in Vijayawada have been chosen. The latter seeks to take information technology to the middle class families using interactive television mode.
