Coimbatore RoC to go online in June

G. Gurumurthy

Coimbatore , Jan. 28

THE department of company affairs' (DCA) e-governance initiative will see Coimbatore emerging as the first centre among the country's registrar of companies (RoC) office networks to go online completely.

`The RoC Coimbatore will start operating on-line by June 2004,' said Mr Samir Biswas, Regional Director of the DCA (Southern Region), Chennai. The RoC offices in Delhi and Mumbai will go on-line after Coimbatore commissioning, he said adding that the DCA had chosen the launch of on-line services from Coimbatore considering the infrastructure strength vested with the Coimbatore office of the RoC.

Mr Biswas who was here to inaugurate the RoC's Web site on Wednesday told newspersons, at the sidelines of the inaugural function, that the DCA was in dialogue with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the implementation of the on-line project which is being implemented with the assistance of the National Institute of Smart Ggovernment. The introduction of the online facility at the RoC offices would facilitate filing/registration electronically of all statutory documents by the business and the industry as required under the companies act.

The facility would also enable payment of fees through online for which the DCA had already talked with various banks on payment models to be followed.

The DCA had identified bank branches to be entrusted the task. The public and institutions could seek accessing RoC registration/services could do so with ease and comfort once the on-line system was in place. .
