MR Mahesh Anant Athavale has been elected as the President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with effect from Monday.

He succeeds Mr Pavan Kumar Vijay.

According to an official communication, Mr Athavale has been re-elected as a Central Council Member of the ICSI for the second successive term. Earlier, he was the Chairman of the Pune Chapter of the Western India Regional Council of the ICSI.

Mr R. Ravi, Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council of the ICSI, has been elected as the Vice-President.
