Award for Indian Bank

HYDERABAD: Indian Bank has announced here on Monday that it has been selected as one of the best commercial banks to receive the State level award under the Self-Help Group Bank Linkage programme for the year 2002-03.

In a press release, the bank said the award would to be given by the President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The bank's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M.B.N. Rao, was invited by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) for receiving the award.

Further, the bank said under the category of best controlling offices, its Visakhapatnam circle office was selected. In addition, Sri Venkateshwara Grameena Bank, sponsored by Indian Bank, was selected as one of the best Regional Rural Banks in the State.

Indian Bank has 191 branches in Andhra Pradesh and two sponsored Regional Rural Banks, one in Chittoor and the other at Gudivada in Krishna district, the release said.
