Pune , Jan. 17

JELLY, custard powder, mushroom and now into IT sector. The Pune-based Weikfield Group has joined hands with Vascon Engineers, players in the construction and real estate segment, to set up the Vascon-Weikfield IT-Citi Infopark.

Talking to presspersons, Mr R. Vasudevan, Chairman and Managing Director, Vascon Engineers, said the 13-acre Infopark would be set up in the Weikfield estate on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway and the total value of the project is estimated to be Rs 100 crore. Weikfield would be the provider of land while Vascon would take care of the construction activities, he said. The project would be completed in three phases and the timeframe would be three years.

This is the second IT park being set up by Vascon in Pune, the first being Marisoft, 90,000 sq. ft., which had been completed in record six months time, a joint venture with Manisha Constructions. The Marisoft project has been completely sold out, he noted and pointed out that the second project would have a business focus on companies in the IT/ITES (IT enabled services) and the BT (biotechnology) sector. It may be recalled that Vascon had recently bagged an order from Zensar Technologies for the construction of its new facility at Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation at Kharadi near Pune. "Zensar is planning to move into the new premises by September this year and we would have completed the entire structure," he said.
