SOS Children's Villages of India, a non-profit organisation providing direct and indirect care to children, has opened its second village in the State at Vottinagulapally in Ranga Reddy district on Friday.
Spread across five acres and containing 12 homes, the SOS Children's Village, was formally inaugurated by the State Governor, Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala. Mr Helmut Kutin, President, SOS-Kinderdorf International and Mr J.N. Kaul, President SOS Children's Villages of India, were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the function Mr Helmut Kutin said about 6 million committed friends around the world contributed to the welfare of children to help children build and shape their life.
In addition to children's villages, SOS provides indirect care to children through its 125 allied projects such as kindergartens, schools, social, medical and vocational training centres across the country.
The Hyderabad village is home to 58 children and has a capacity to support over 120 children. About nine mothers and five co-workers will help these children to become self-reliant and responsible persons, according to a release.
