Performance Honda car drives up 195% in Dec Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan 2 HONDA Siel Cars India Ltd, which makes the City and Accord luxury cars, today said its sales in December nearly tripled to 2,760 vehicles year-on-year, powered by robust growth of the new model of City sedan. Honda Siel had sold 935 cars in December 2002. The new City sold 2,536 units in December, recording a growth of 194 per cent over 862 units sold in the same month in the previous year. On a sequential basis, sales of Honda cars rose 51 per cent in December over November 2003, a company statement said here. Sales of City increased by 77 per cent sequentially. "The fourth quarter looks very promising. The new City is a biggest success of the year and currently has a backorder of approximately 3,000 units," said Mr Neeraj Garg, Head - Marketing, Honda Siel. Sales in the October-December quarter grew by 80 per cent to 5,839 units. For the April-December period, the company recorded a sales of 13,040 units over 9,556 units in the corresponding period last year.
