Taxation Industry & Economy - Taxation Net direct tax collections up 23.5% Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 19 NET collection of direct taxes for April 1-December 15, 2003 has increased by Rs 9,178 crore on a year-on-year basis. This represents a 23.5 per cent increase to the net direct taxes collected during April 1-December 15, 2002. While the increase in corporate tax is Rs 6,611 crore , the increase in income tax is Rs 2,567 crore . According to an official release, total net collection for the year 2003-04 is Rs 48,192 crore up to December 15, 2003. This includes corporate tax collections of Rs 24,999 crore and income-tax collections of Rs 23,193 crore. These figures also include central TDS of Rs 463 crore up to September 2003. Net collections of corporate tax and income tax for the year 2003-04 were Rs 42,538 crore up to November 2003. The collections from December 1-15, 2003 are Rs 5,654 crore.
