Kerala bags two FICCI tourism awards

KERALA Tourism has won awards from the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for `best marketing' and `best use of IT in tourism'.
Mr Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Director, Kerala Tourism, said that the awards were given away at the FICCI's International Tourism Conference held in Chennai from December 10-12.
The award for the best promotional material in health tourism was won by the Great India Tour Company (GITC), part of the Kerala Tourism team at the conference, for its brochure called `Healing Holidays'.
The FICCI conference, `South India - A Global Destination', was focused on the intra-regional and inter-regional marketing of the South. Malaysia was the partner country for the conference, which was chaired by Prof K.V. Thomas, Minister for Tourism.
Dwelling on the scope of health tourism in the country, the Minister stressed the need to have an efficient support infrastructure.
"The awards are a reaffirmation of Kerala Tourism's unique marketing strategy and will provide a boost to the pioneering efforts of the State in this direction," Mr Sharma said.
Tourism professionals from across India as well as from the Asean countries, West Asia and South Africa attended the Chennai conference.
