ONGC bags 5 coal-bed methane blocks; Reliance 3

OIL and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has won the bid for five coal-bed methane blocks, while Reliance has bagged three blocks of the nine coal-bed methane blocks on offer.

The Government had received 14 bids for eight out of the nine blocks on offer for exploration and production of gas from coal seams. According to official sources, the Godavari block GV (North)-CBM-2003/11 did not elicit any interest.

Reliance emerged as the lone bidder for two blocks in Rajasthan. Further, it outbid ONGC for the Chhattisgarh block. ONGC, meanwhile, emerged as the lone bidder for two blocks.
