Kerala: Training in construction work

Our Bureau

KOCHI: In a bid to reduce the cost of building and other construction activities in the State, the Kerala Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board has proposed to provide training for construction workers in handling modern equipments.

The rising cost of construction had caused a slump in the industry. This slump had resulted in fewer jobs for the construction workers, according to a release issued by the Board Chairman, Mr K.P. Sankardas.

He said that with cheaper labour available in the State through immigrant labourers from neighbouring States, local workers are threatened.
