Software IBM, i-flex in global tie-up Our Bureau
Bangalore , Nov 20 IBM and i-flex Solutions today announced a global alliance to deliver and market core banking replacement solutions to medium and large size banks worldwide. As part of the agreement, FLEXCUBE's retail module would be made available on IBM's J2EE-based WebSphere Internet infrastructure software and DB2 universal database in a phased manner. Mr Abraham Thomas, Managing Director, IBM India, said the tie-up was the first of its kind for IBM with an Indian software company. IBM would promote i-flex's FLEXCUBE and its business intelligence solution Reveleus and provide consulting, implementation and integration services worldwide.i-flex will make available FLEXCUBE on open standard IBM platforms, thereby enhancing reach to Tier-1 and Tier-2 customers. Mr Deepak Ghaisas, CEO (India Operations) and Chief Financial Officer, i-flex solutions, said: "The move to open standard IBM platforms will enable us to tap into the replacement market, which constitutes about 85 per cent of the total opportunity for core banking systems." Mr N.R.K. Raman, Senior Vice-President, Global Sales, i-flex, said the alliance would help his company expand its reach in newer markets where IBM has a reach, apart from deepening its reach in the existing markets.
