Hyderabad , Nov. 18

S2TECH, a US-based information technology company headquartered in Chesterfield, plans to expand the strength of its offshore development centre at Hitec City here to 400 by the end of 2004.

At present, the company has 75 employees across the US and 20 employees here.

"We are eventually looking towards a 1,000-seater facility in Hyderabad in which we are ready to invest upto $1 million ," Mr Day Veerlapati, Managing Director of S2Tech, told newspersons.

Rated by Inc. magazine as among the 500 fastest growing private companies across US, S2Tech's sales grew from $62,941 in 1997, the year it commenced operations, to $1.6 million in 2000 and $2.7 million in 2002. "We are expecting to post a turnover of $6 million this year and $12 million next year," Mr Veerlapati said.

S2Tech provides software development and maintenance support for its client base in the US. It mainly serves the health care, transportation and finance industries. The company was also looking to using its offshore centre for business process outsourcing.

Mr Veerlapati said the company's main focus was on bringing health-care clients' computer systems into compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of the US to expedite healthcare claims processing. As per HIPAA, "systems have to send and receive data in a designated format".
