Software IBM `Express' package for small businesses Our Bureau

Chennai , Nov. 18 IBM India will sell a complete information technology package tailored to meet the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The package includes computers, software, solutions and after-sales service. The package has been branded `Express' and IBM has offered to provide finance options to consumers. "All these are designed, customised and available at an affordable price for SMBs," Mr R. Dhamodharan, Vice-President (Global Mid Market Business), IBM India, told newspersons here on Tuesday. For instance, Cativa, Cadd-Cam software from Dassault Systems for large enterprises, would cost about Rs 12 lakh. However, IBM, through independent software vendors, would offer the same and customised solutions to SMBs at less than Rs 5 lakh, he said. and financial services, he said. Last year, about 20 per cent of IBM's global revenue came from SMBs or companies with less than 1,000 employees, said Mr Dhamodaran. Mr Abraham Thomas, Managing Director, IBM India, said the company would shortly enhance its business partners in India to about 1,000 from the present 750. This would enable partners to reach across 200 locations in the country. The company has also signed agreements with two new independent software vendors Karishma Software for hospital management systems and Nucleus Software for financial services, he said.
