Our Bureau

KOCHI: A waste processing-cum-bio fertiliser unit set up by the Thrikakkara Grama Panchayat has been inaugurated near the NGO quarters.

Set up as part of the `Malinyamillatha Mavelinadu' programme organised by the grama panchayat, the new facility will use earthworms for conversion of waste into bio fertiliser. The year-long programme is aimed at making the Thrikakkara Grama Panchayat the cleanest in the State.

The panchayat has earmarked Rs 35 lakh to implement the project. The bio manure will be distributed among the residents of the panchayat. The panchayat has selected 25 residential areas for implementing the project.
