Letters Stamp paper scam
The stamp paper scam is the worst of its kind, against which all the others pale into insignificance, Bofors included. The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr L. K. Advani, has said those trying to destabilise the country through cross-border terrorism are suspected to be involved in the crime. If it is only a suspicion, it is not proper for such a highly ranked member of the Union Cabinet to tell it out openly. It may even be taken advantage of by some people who are within the border and involved in the scam. Also, it is not right to blame cross border terrorism for all our ills. Leaving aside the issue of whether people from across the border are involved in it or not, as the Deputy Prime Minister himself said, it is one of the worst scams and is likely to affect the very root of the economy. The Government should take care and impose enough vigilance measures to prevent such occurrences and scams in the future. V. S.
