Kochi , Nov 5

HONDA Siel Cars India Ltd, a leading premium and luxury car manufacturer in the country, has rolled out its new version - All New Honda City - in the Kerala market here on Wednesday.

The new City is the third model launched by the company this year and is part of its overall strategy to become the leader in the premium segment, Mr Rajiv Vohra, Regional Manager (West), said at a media interaction organised in connection with the launch of the new vehicle here.

With a 55,000-customer base in India, the company has set a target of selling 30,000 units of all the three models in the country. Of this 12,000 units would be the newly introduced version, he said.

Referring to the automobile sector in India, Mr Vohra pointed out that the industry is expected to grow at the rate of 14-15 per cent during this fiscal taking into account the GDP growth. Last year, the growth rate was only 4-5 per cent, he said.

Mr Mitesh K. Patel, Manaing Director, Peninsular Honda, the dealer of Honda Siel Cars in the State, said that the company is expecting a 22-25 per cent growth in Kerala market with the launch of this new upper premium segment vehicle from the existing 15 per cent market share.

Since its launch in 1995, Peninsular had sold over 1,700 Honda cars of different variants in the State.

Apart from Kochi, it had opened two new dealerships in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode and is also in the process of opening another dealership in Mangalore by December this year, he said.
