UAE white goods firm forays into Indian market

INDIAN consumers are set to get more choices in the consumer electronics and home appliances segment.

Aftron, the flagship company of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based $5 billion Al-Futtaim group, on Tuesday announced its entry into the Indian market with launch of its colour television, gas and cooking ranges, freezers, irons, refrigerators and washing machines.

The company has appointed Delhi-based Kelvin Systems as its distributor in North India and will soon set up a national network of dealers and service centres. It also plans to open 10 exclusive showrooms in North India by March 2004.

According to a company source, "Apart from these products, the company will also be launching window air conditioners, irons, vacuum cleaners, DVD and home theatre and other kitchen appliances soon in the Indian market."
