Dumping probe into cyclohexanone imports

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Oct. 11

AFTER caprolactam, it is now the turn of cyclohexanone, a chemical intermediate used in the manufacture of caprolactam, to come under the lens of the anti-dumping directorate. Caprolactam is used in the manufacture of nylon-6.

Based on the petition filed by Gujarat State Fertilisers Corporation (GSFC), the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has now initiated an anti-dumping probe on all imports of cyclohexanone from the European Union (EU), the US and Taiwan. GSFC has claimed that it is the sole producer of cyclohexanone in the country.

Cyclohexanone is also used as solvent and thinners for lacquers, especially those containing nitrocellulose or vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer resins.

Last month, the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry had initiated anti-dumping probe on imports of caprolactam from the EU, Japan, Nigeria and Thailand. The anti-dumping probe was initiated on the basis of petition filed by GSFC and FACT.
