Visakhapatnam , Oct. 7

THE Coast Guard is setting up two new stations at Kakinada and Pondicherry as a part of its 15-year development plan, Commodore R.S Vasan, the Commander, Coast Guard, East Region, has said.

Commodore Vasan, who arrived here from Chennai to visit the Coast Guard unit, said at a press meet on Tuesday that it would increase the visibility of the Coast Guard and act as a deterrent to those indulging in nefarious activities.

He said the sites suitable for the two new stations were being identified and the manpower requirement was being assessed. In future, the Coast Guard may also have a station at Gopalpur in Orissa.
