Hyundai sales increase 53 pc

RIDING on higher exports, Hyundai Motor India, has seen a 53 per cent increase in total sales to 17,009 units in September, even as its sales in the first nine months of 2003 crossed the 1 lakh units mark. In contrast, the company's full year sales in 2002 were 111,051 units.

Domestic sales in September were at 11,004 units as compared to 10,053 units in the same last year. Exports climbed six fold in September 2003 to 6005. Combined sales of the Santro and Accent registered highs of 13,016 units and 3,818 units respectively in the month. Total volumes grew 44.4 per cent year-to-year to 79,226 units for the period April- September 2003.
