AP Govt to hold meeting on jute mill dispute

Visakhapatnam , Sept. 19

THE Government will convene a meeting on the issue of the Chittivalasa jute mill industrial dispute in Hyderabad on Saturday and decide whether a GO should be issued cancelling the notice under section 9 (A) of the Industrial Disputes Act issued by the management resulting in a wage-cut.

The notice has led to the dispute and the subsequent stoppage of production at the mill since June. This was stated by Mr B.V. Mohan Reddy, the Municipal Administration Minister, who presided over the District Development Review Committee meeting here on Friday.

The meeting was disrupted for sometime as Mr R.S.D.P Narasimha Raju, the MLA of Bheemunipatnam, protested vehemently at "the inordinate delay by Government officials'' in issuing the GO cancelling the controversial notice issued by the management, though the Chief Minister himself had given clear instructions.

He was supported by other members, cutting across partly lines, forcing the Minister to talk to the officials in Hyderabad and make the announcement about Saturday's meeting.
