THE New Delhi-based Institute of Economic Studies (IES) has chosen the Managing Director of Granules India Ltd (GIL), Mr C. Krishna Prasad, for its annual Udyog Rattan Award and Granules for Excellence Award for the year 2003, according to a GIL release.

The Andhra Pradesh Governor, Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala, presented the awards at a function on Thursday, the company said.

Mr Krishna Prasad, a first-generation entrepreneur, promoted Granules in 1991 and pioneered the concept of pharmaceutical formulation intermediates (PFIs).

The company said that it is currently the market leader in the manufacture and sale of directly compressible granules of multiple active pharmaceutical ingredients as a form of PFI.
