IT-enabled Services D-Link sets up tech support centre Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 8 D-LINK (India) Ltd commissioned its Global Tech Support Centre here on Monday. The facility would initially house 50 engineers and provide voice-based technical support for D-Link products to English-speaking D-Link overseas business units worldwide. "This is part of our efforts to integrate global operations to generate more profits. The Indian centre is the first global call centre that D-Link has set up," Mr A.P. Chen, Chief Financial Officer, D-Link Corporation, said while addressing the media. Currently, D-Link outsources over 200 seats for technical support to three firms in the US. "We are paying nearly $10 million for these services. With the Indian centre becoming operational the work will get outsourced here. As our product lines increase, we expect more (technical support) work to get outsourced to this facility," Mr K.R. Naik, Chairman and MD, D-Link (India), said. Besides this, the company also expects to offer hi-tech call centre support to customers like Motorola. While the tech centre would initially offer support services to the US market, this would be extended to Europe and Australia later. The company`s investment on setting up the Indian facility amounts to $1 million with a planned ramp-up of 200 engineers over the next two years. The tech centre is expected to contribute significantly to the company's profits.
