Radio/TV IMG finalises report on Star News uplinking Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 18 THE Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) set up to look into Star News' uplinking application has finalised its report and will submit it to the Group of Ministers (GoM) shortly. The GoM comprising the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Law Minister, Mr Arun Jaitley, and the Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, is expected to meet later this week to take a final view. The IMG in its report has pointed out the loopholes and has made broad suggestions. "For instance, there could be suggestions on increasing holdings by Indian promoters. But the IMG has not made specific recommendations. The GoM would have a final say," said sources. Going by the indications, there could be some policy-level changes and Star may have to rework its application to comply with the guidelines.
