US firm to do cloud seeding

HYDERABAD: Weather Modifications Inc, a US based corporation, has been mandated a Rs 7-crore cloud seeding project to take up the task to help generate artificial rains in the parched and drought hit Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The cloud seeding operation will commence on September 1.

The State Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, who held a review meeting here on Monday, directed the Commissioner of Agriculture to constitute a team of members in consultation with Walamtari and station them at Bangalore for taking up the task of detecting cloud formation and for necessary follow up action.
