Thiruvananthapuram , Aug.1

THE Muthoot Pappachan Group, the Kerala-based diversified corporate group, has been awarded the IT Technopolis project that will be developed on BOT basis along the new Seaport-Airport Expressway in the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).

Announcing this, a spokesman said here that the group has tied up with the Jurong Infrastructure (India) Ltd, fully owned by the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC), Singapore, for setting up the Rs 40-crore project.

The project seeks to leverage Jurong's track record as a premier developer and manager of science, business and industrial parks across Asia. The Muthoot Pappachan Group has presence spanning the financial services, manufacturing, hospitality and infrastructure sectors.

Jurong will provide urban planning, architecture, engineering and quantity survey services and construction and post-construction operations management for the Technopolis project.

It had played a key role in the construction of major IT parks and campuses in the country, such as the International Tech Park in Bangalore, Cyber Pearl (Hitech City III) Hardware Park and the ILABS campus in Hyderabad.

The IT Technopolis will be the first initiative for Jurong in the State of Kerala. According to the spokesman, Jurong's vast experience in the construction of software parks would ensure that the Technopolis project would be completed within the stipulated time. Work on the 2.6 lakh sq ft facility will begin next month and would be completed in 14 months.

The marketing strategy for the Technopolis has underpinnings on cost effective operations, availability of world-class infrastructure, especially connectivity, low rentals, single window clearance and quick start-up.

According to Mr Rao Munukutla, Chief Executive Officer, Jurong Infrastructure (India), the Technopolis would be built to international standards. Mr Thomas Muthoot, Director, Muthoot Pappachan Group, also shared Jurong's sentiments, saying that the project would be among the finest of its genre in Asia. When fully operational, the facility would house 2000 professionals with high value skills, he added.

Mr Paul Antony, Development Commissioner, CSEZ, extended a warm welcome to private enterprise into CSEZ.
