JBIC scheme to be launched on August 17

THE Water Resources Minister, Mr T.M. Jacob, has said that the State Government expected to get the necessary clearances soon for the Rs 1800-crore drinking water scheme being implemented with assistance from the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The Government expected to formally launch the scheme on August 17, Mr Jacob said during Question Hour in the State Assembly on Thursday. The project seeks to provide drinking water to an estimated 45 lakh people spread over five perennially water-starved districts in the State and will be completed over a period of the next three years.
