L&T co-founder Holck-Larsen dead

MR Henning Holck-Larsen, co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), passed away at the Breach Candy hospital here today, after a brief illness. He was 96.

Mr Holck-Larsen had not been keeping well for the last couple of months and was admitted to hospital two weeks ago.

He is survived by a daughter, based in London. The funeral is slated for tomorrow.

He and his former schoolmate, Mr Soren Kristian Toubro, joined the same company — F.L. Smidth — Mr Toubro reaching India first in 1933-34. Mr Holck-Larsen followed in 1935 to submit a report on India's cement sector, a reported fallout of which was the rise of Associated Cement Companies (ACC).
