Hyderabad , July 18 THE authorised crop size of tobacco in Andhra Pradesh for 2003-04 has been fixed at 111.24 million kg. This is 5 per cent higher than the authorised crop size of 105.48 mkg fixed during 2002-03. The Production Committee meeting of Tobacco Board held here on Friday evening has taken a decision to this effect. The Production Committee Member and President of the Tobacco Growers Association Of India, Mr Ranga Rao, told Business Line that while a crop size of 28.92 mkg was fixed for northern light soils, a crop size of 40 mkg was fixed for southern light soils. For southern black soils, the crops size was fixed at 31.56 mkg and for central black soils and the northern black soils, the crop size has been fixed at 11.24 mkg. Mr Ranga Rao said that injustice was done to the farmers of southern black soils who have been given a higher crop size two years ago.
