Regency chief honoured

HYDERABAD: Burkes University of UK has conferred honorary Ph. D degree in Business Management on the Chairman of Regency Ceramics Ltd, Mr G. N. Naidu, in recognition of his contribution to the industrial growth and charitable works at Yanam in Pondicherry where the factory is located.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said that out of the 8,000 families residing at Yanam, Regency had provided direct employment to 2,000 persons and indirect employment to a few thousand more people. The company was also providing uninterrupted drinking water in areas where there was no protected water supply in Yanam and also in Cuddapah, the native place of Mr Naidu.

According to Mr Naidu, Regency was employing widows and poor women with minimum qualifications in the company's Regma packing unit.

It is also contributing ceramic tiles, worth Rs 20,000, to each temple in East and West Godavari districts and also to various charitable institutions in the State. The company has also contributed significantly for setting up an old age home in Yanam.
