New Delhi , July 17

THE board of directors of SRF Ltd are to meet here on Friday to consider a proposal for investment of Rs 40 crore for manufacture of hydro fluorocarbon (HFC).

SRF's chemical business produces fluorochemicals and chloromethanes. Fluorochemicals accounted for revenues of Rs 133 crore in 2001-02.

"The location for manufacture of HFC are yet to be finalised, it may be in Rajasthan," a company official said, declining to elaborate on the details of the proposal before SRF's Board of Directors. SRF is leveraging its distribution network to import and sell new refrigerant gases like HFC-134a that are used as replacement gases. The company had set up a pilot plant for the manufacture of HFC-134a.
