Idea offers global SMS facility

IDEA Cellular Ltd has introduced Global SMS reaching across the largest cross-section of the world's mobile population. Now all Idea customers can send and receive SMS messages across the world, through more than 500 networks, on multiple technology platforms such as GSM, CDMA, TDMA and satellite phones, which are being offered for the first time by any operator in the country.

Announcing this at a press conference, Mr Sukanta Dey, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Idea, noted that Global SMS would be available to the pre-paid and post-paid categories across all the five circles of Idea cellular i.e. in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. It will soon introduce other applications such as Group and Corporate SMS.
