MUMBAI, June 20

UNITED Tele Shopping & Marketing Company, the teleshopping outfit belonging to the Unilazer group of companies, has closed shop. Branded as TSN or Tele Shopping Network, the company started operations in 1995 and pioneered direct response television and also branded its e-commerce initiatives to include online shopping through its Web site in 1999.

Its portal (tsnshop.com), one of the biggest cyber malls on the Net, had been reeling under a financial crunch for a while before it closed operations. The company, which operated out of Unilazer House in Andheri East, has no employees working for the portal with its Managing Director, Mr Rajan Kaicker, having quit the company.

The portal, which provided both direct and Internet-based shopping facilities, was retailing almost 38 brands apart from which it also had a brick and mortal retail presence at almost 120 outlets spanning 14 cities.
