BPO park facility in Dubai

Vimala Vasan

ABU DHABI, May 27

THE first business process outsourcing (BPO) Park facility in West Asia was launched on Tuesday at Dubai Internet City. The initiative leverages Dubai Internet City's advantages as an ideal location to base IT-enabled services to offer high quality and cost-effective BPO services to organisations all over the world.

The facility is an initiative of Global Tech FZ LLC, a Dubai Internet City-based transaction group. Global Tech has joined hands with One World FZ LLC — a BPO process management and consulting company — to market the facility worldwide, according to a statement from the Dubai Internet City made available to Business Line.

Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, said: "Business process outsourcing is an exciting sector and we are keen to support the efforts of companies like Global Tech to build their competencies in this domain in the region,'' he added.

The BPO Park is a unique, fully integrated `plug and play' facility for handling outsourced core business processes from companies around the world. It is operated by Global Tech, while One World is responsible for its technical management, international marketing, and development of business process infrastructure, which will ultimately draw high value companies to Dubai. The venture is also targeting Indian call centres among those based in other parts of the world.

Mr Mamdouh Radwan, Director of Global Tech, said, we are sure that our association with One World will bring us international clients, best practices, and the latest technology which will be useful for both domestic and international call centre companies.''

"Mr Nic Labuschagne, Chief Operating Officer, One World, said "At present we are targeting the Irish and European call centres to relocate their critical operations to our facility, and we have a very persuasive case to present to the Indian call centres which now need to have disaster recovery facilities as part of their service level agreements with their clients. Our BPO Park also offers very cost-efficient call centre solutions to local companies which want to excel in the art of customer service,'' he added.

The Global Tech BPO Park will have 600 fully equipped workstations available on a lease basis.

In an effort to maintain One World's world-class service standards, the BPO Park has signed a contract with the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone's subsidiary eHosting DataFort to host its servers.

The hosting service provided by eHosting DataFort, in alliance with IBM, ensures that the servers are hosted and managed by IBM in its server farm at Dubai Internet City.
