Snuggy account awarded to Contract Ad

MUMBAI, May 27

GODREJ Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has awarded the Snuggy account to Contract Advertising, which also handles the Godrej Shaving Cream and Shave Gel accounts. Madison Media continues to be the AOR (agency on record) on the account, according to a news release.

Snuggy, the first brand of disposable baby diapers in India, was launched in 1987. GCPL had recently acquired the trademark and copyright to Snuggy, which had a turnover of around Rs 5 crore in 2001-02, and is one of the three top players in the country. The acquisition is a part of GCPL's plan to grow its topline by entering the baby care category, which the company believes is a sizeable category.

For Contract, this was a tremendous opportunity, as it was a nascent market, and the category had to grow by stealing share from the homemade diapers segment, said Mr Rajiv Sabnis, Executive Vice-President, Contract Advertising.
