Hardware Hardware exports up 50 per cent Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, May 11 COMPUTER hardware exports have clocked a growth of 50 per cent during 2001-02, according to the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC). The export of computer hardware, in value terms, is estimated to be Rs 1,800 crore during 2001-02, compared to Rs 1,200 crore in 2000-01. And according to ESC's Executive Director, Mr D.K. Sareen, head stacks, followed by SMPs, scanners, PCs, add-on cards and printers helped boost the exports. Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries in the region have emerged as a major destination for computer hardware from India, the note said, with total exports to this region being about Rs 1,325 crore during 2001-02, clocking a 20 per cent growth.
