Wage talks: Bank union opposes IBA preconditions

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, April 19

THE National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) has expressed itself against agreeing to any precondition laid down by the Indian Bank's Association (IBA) for negotiations on the seventh bipartite wage settlement.

In a statement, it has said that it specifically opposes free hand of the bank managements in transfer, deployment and mobility as sought by the IBA as a precondition for talks. It has said that agreeing to the demands would lead to `deunionisation' in public sector banks.

Instead, NOBW has demanded that in cases where there are excess personnel banks must consider starting double shifts banking.
