MUMBAI, March 17 SERUM International Ltd, a subsidiary of vaccine maker, Serum Institute of India Ltd, today launched Pyginal, a drug used in the treatment of benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). The drug is priced at Rs 75 excluding local taxes for 10 capsules. According to Dr Subodh Bharadwaj, Medical Director, Serum Institute of India, prostate will be widespread among elderly men and 50 per cent of males above 60 years of age will suffer from BPH irrespective of whether they live in urban or rural areas. Pyginal has marked the entry of Serum Institute in the men's healthcare segment. "Even though Serum Institute is a leading manufacturer of vaccines in India, we also market other products for women's healthcare, fertility range of products from world leaders in biotech, pain killers and other general products,'' said Dr Bharadwaj.
