Vizag Steel Plant achieves Rs 4,289-cr sales

VISAKHAPATNAM, March 7

VISAKHAPATNAM Steel Plant (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd) achieved sales of Rs 4,289 crore during 11 months of the current financial year (April 2002 to March 2003), registering 22 per cent growth over the figures during the corresponding period last year.

According to a company press release, during February, the sales turnover was Rs 439 crore as against only Rs 381 crore last year. The plant is set to achieve the best-ever yearly performance on all fronts during the year.

The labour productivity of the plant was 251-tonnes/man-year as against 224 tonnes last year, specific energy consumption 6.15-giga calories/tonne of liquid steel (6.68 last year).
