TN: Applications invited for SSI award

MADURAI: The Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) has invited applications from the small-scale industries from the nine southern districts for the eleventh Viswesaraya Annual Award for 2002, for the `Best Small Industry' in the region.

Mr K. Ramachandran, President, Maditssia, in a statement, has said the award presented jointly by Maditssia and the All-India Manufacturers Association (AIMO) is worth Rs 10,000. Two other prizes are also awarded, each worth Rs 5000, sponsored by the State Bank of India.

The industries from Madurai, Dindugal, Sivaganaga, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts are eligible to apply for the award and the units should have commenced production between April 1989 and 1999, he added.
