SBI okays Rs 14.15 cr to rural project

BANGALORE: State Bank of India has sanctioned Rs 14.15 crore to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRP) for expanding its development efforts for rural masses in the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.

Prior to the recent disbursal, SBI had extended Rs 1.3 crore to SKDRP and experienced 100 per cent recovery. SKDRP is one of the leading purveyors of micro credit through self-help groups (SHGs).The organisation has provided assistance to the tune of Rs 6.57 crore to close to 27,500 members of the SHGs. As on December-end, it had facilitated forming of 8,400 SHGs covering 74,000 families. The cumulative savings aggregated to Rs 10.20 crore.
